From time to time we have students or GP registrars attached to the practice. They will be supervised by another doctor. While we feel it is important for these trainees to have access to as wide a spectrum of patients as possible, your consent will always be asked for. You can refuse to be seen by a trainee and this will not affect your treatment.
Sometimes we videotape consultations. This allows us to see ourselves as others see us and is an important tool in training and learning. Your consent will always be sought before, and after, a video is made. Physical examination is not videoed.
Sometimes the videos may be viewed by other doctors or medical students out-with the Surgery. Again, explicit consent will be asked for before this happens.
