Patient Transport Service

The Patient Transport Service provides ambulances to patients who need support to reach their healthcare appointment, or for their admission to and discharge from hospital, due to their medical/clinical needs.

This is for patients whose condition means that they require the skills of the Non-Emergency Service Ambulance Care Assistant during the journey, or when it would be detrimental to the patient’s condition or recovery to travel by any other means.

Cars may only  be booked by the patient by contacting the Scottish Ambulance Service booking line.

If the cost of transport/fuel is a problem, you can get help with these costs.  Ask for  “A Quick Guide to Help with Health Costs” at the surgery or outpatient department.
